Hi, I am a poor working person and I recently became interested in the Centrist Party and the National Populist movement. I learned about National Populism on this blog, and I think it’s a good thing.

Augustus is right about the government not offering a plan to get people off welfare.

Example 1: My friend’s husband at one time did not want her to work because they would lose their housing voucher if she did.

Example 2: I lived better making $7/hr than $10/hr. At $10/hr, I didn’t qualify for any assistance, and had to pay full price for all my groceries, rent and childcare. Childcare took about 1/3 of my income, leaving me with very little to pay my bills. When I was making $7/hr, I lived in low-income housing and was on food stamps. This helped a lot. I probably could’ve also received discounted child care and heating assistance, but I never applied for it.

Life is hard for single working mothers. If they have small children, the price of childcare takes a good portion of their income, leaving them little to live on. And if they have more than one child, the cost is so high it really doesn’t make sense to work. This is why many women are now searching for work they can do from home. I did this for about 3 years. It cuts out the cost of childcare, gas and lunches. It’s great – if you can find a work-at-home job.

Now I’m married and life is better but we still struggle. The only assistance we currently receive is Medicaid for our kids. Medicaid is a great program. It covers way more stuff than private health insurance does. I hope we do not have to get Medicaid forever. Though, I don’t see a change in the immediate future. I like my job and I don’t want to find something that may pay more but I may not like. My husband likes what he does too. We are hoping to find a gold mine one day. LOL.

Anyway, if more people get involved in the National Populist movement, maybe some things can change for the better for many of us.

I am a widowed machinist from Delaware. I am not a member of either the Democrats or the Republicans. I was never really interested in politics until I saw the direction the country was heading in.

I have seen time and again how the broken promises and the exploitation of the American people by the political class have drastically hurt this country. I have seen how my union continues to support the Democrats even though the Democratic politicians do nothing for the average working American.

I have also seen how the Republicans sell out the middle class and the working class so that the rich can feel even more entitled. I am a free market person, but you should never sell out your workforce to make a quick buck.

The idea of National Populism has been around, i.e. France, and Europe, but it is time to bring a new flavor of it to America. That is what I am attempting to do.

I am not a smart man, I dropped out of college freshman year many years ago, but I like to think I am an honest man who thinks that common sense should govern all that we do. It is time for us as Americans to make sure that our needs are being met. Currently I do not think that is happening and it is time to change.
